Beyond filler
When the face needs lift,
filler isn’t always the answer.
Most people who ask for filler aren’t really asking for fullness. They’re asking for lift. They just assume filler is how you get it.
But as the face ages, it doesn’t only lose volume. Muscles pull it down every day, and the tissue loosens and slides lower.
Filler adds volume. It can’t put tissue back where it was, and too often it leaves the face heavier and fuller.
That’s why Dr. Tessa doesn’t routinely fill smile lines and cheeks. When the face needs lift, she lifts it, with Botox and threads.
You don’t want fuller. You want lifted.

Look at the eyes
No filler under the eyes. Botox came first, two weeks earlier, to stop the downward pull. Then threads gave her the second lift, raising the cheeks back to where they belong. This photo was taken immediately after PDO threads were placed, and results continue to improve as collagen builds. Natural, and all her own.
Immediately after threads, two weeks after Botox. Redness settled over the following days. Individual results vary.
Dr. T’s signature approach
The Beauty Spot Lift
A double lift, from the muscle up.
Every day, certain muscles pull the face down. It’s a daily assault on the skin. Dr. Tessa starts there.
Lift one · Botox
Relaxes the muscles pulling everything down. With that constant drag eased, the face lifts.
Lift two · Threads
With the muscles relaxed, threads lift the skin and tissue over them. A second lift, on top of the first.
Then · Skincare
Now that everything is lifted, the right skincare keeps your skin looking its best between appointments.
It can all be done in one visit. Or Dr. Tessa may start with Botox, give it about two weeks to relax the downward pull, and then lift with threads. She’ll recommend what fits your face and your schedule.
Two lifts working together, so there’s no need for filler to fake one.
Relax the pull. Then lift.
Dr. T’s signature treatment
The Beauty Spot Cheek Pop
Thinking about filler for your smile lines? See this first.
Many women come in asking for filler in the lines between the nose and mouth.
But those lines often aren’t the real problem. They deepen when the cheek starts to slip down and sit heavier on the fold.
Filling the fold adds weight to an area that’s already being pulled down. That’s why Dr. Tessa doesn’t place filler there.
Instead, she lifts the cheek back up toward where it used to sit, using PDO threads. When the cheek lifts, the fold softens. No added volume. No heaviness.
Filler in the fold
Adds volume where the tissue is already heavy. The cheek keeps sliding, and the fold keeps asking for more.
The Cheek Pop
Lifts the cheek back into position, so the fold softens on its own. Your face, back where it belongs.
Don’t fill the fold. Lift the cheek.

Why every photo is “immediately after”: most patients love their result so much they never come back for an after photo. So these were all taken right after treatment. Any redness, swelling or small bumps settled over the following days. Individual results vary.

PDO threads at Beauty Spot
What are PDO threads?
PDO (polydioxanone) is a dissolvable material that has been used in medical sutures for decades.
Dr. Tessa places fine PDO threads beneath the skin to gently lift and support tissue that has started to sag. Over the following months, the threads dissolve naturally.
As they do, your body responds by building new collagen around them — so the support continues after the threads are gone.
More lift. More support. Still your face.
Where threads can help
- Cheeks + midfaceFor lift where the cheeks have started to descend, without adding volume.
- Jawline + jowlsFor a cleaner, more defined-looking jawline.
- Lower faceFor softening the heaviness that can pull the face downward.
- NeckFor support and a smoother, firmer-looking neck.
- BrowsFor a subtle lift and a more open look where appropriate.
Two kinds of threads
Smooth threads. Lifting threads.
Not every thread does the same job. Dr. Tessa chooses the combination your face needs.
For skin quality
Smooth threads
Fine, smooth threads placed in a mesh beneath the skin. They don’t lift. They support, encouraging collagen for skin that looks firmer and smoother.
Often used for: crepey skin · fine lines · neck · under the chin
For lift
Lifting threads
Threads with tiny anchors that gently hold the tissue, so Dr. Tessa can lift it and hold it in its new position.
Often used for: cheeks · jawline · jowls · brows
Lifting threads for position. Smooth threads for support.

Your appointment
Simple, start to finish.
Consultation
Dr. Tessa looks at your face as a whole and tells you honestly whether threads, Botox, or both make the most sense. You’ll get your price here, and treatment can often happen the same visit if time allows and you’d like to.
Numbing
The treatment areas are numbed for comfort.
Placement
Dr. Tessa places the threads through tiny entry points. Most appointments take about an hour.
Lift
Some lift is visible right away and continues to develop over the following weeks as collagen builds. Many patients love their result the moment they look in the mirror.
Recovery
Mild swelling, bruising, tenderness or a feeling of tightness are common and usually settle within one to two weeks.
For the first couple of weeks, you’ll be asked to avoid facial massage, very wide mouth opening, sleeping on your face and strenuous exercise. Dr. Tessa will give you detailed aftercare instructions.
And you’re never on your own: you’ll have personal access to Dr. Tessa throughout your recovery.
Big event coming up? Schedule threads at least two weeks before any special occasion, to allow for swelling and possible bruising.
How long results last
The threads dissolve over several months. Many patients enjoy results for around a year, sometimes longer. Individual results vary.
“I am 58 years old… It was a little tender and swollen for the first few days but after that I didn’t feel them. I believe it lifted my face along with my jaw line and helped tighten my neck. It has been 6 months and I’m still pleased with the results.”
Is it right for you?
Subtle lift.
Not a facelift.
PDO threads are often a great fit if you’re starting to notice mild to moderate sagging in the cheeks, jawline or neck — and you want lift without surgery or added volume.
They aren’t a replacement for a surgical facelift. If threads won’t give you the result you want, Dr. Tessa will tell you.
Honest advice first. Treatment second.
“I initially came to her for a threadlift consult because I felt like my face was falling… she explained I was too young for a lift… She could have easily given me what I wanted which would have been more money and sent me on my way, but she really listens and cares and wants the best for her clients.”
What thread patients notice.
I had an amazing PDO thread treatment with Dr. Tessa… If I could give her 20 out of 10 stars, I would!… The lift looks natural, refreshed, and exactly what I was hoping to achieve.

Why Dr. T for threads
Harford County’s PDO thread specialist.
Threads aren’t a beginner’s treatment. Placing one means working beneath the skin, through layers of tissue, around the muscles, vessels and nerves of the face. Precision isn’t optional.
Dr. Tessa is a doctor of dental surgery with surgical training in the face. She knows the anatomy of the head, face, jaw and neck the way most injectors know a map.
Every thread is placed by Dr. Tessa herself. Never handed off.

She is a longtime member and mentor of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and a Fellow of the American Association of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery.
“Before finding Tessa, I went elsewhere for a PDO thread consultation. Even though they advertised PDO threads on their website, I was told I was not a good candidate and was encouraged to get Botox instead… After evaluating me, she confidently explained that I was actually an EXCELLENT candidate for PDO threads.”

FAQ
PDO thread questions, answered.
Visiting from Fallston, Forest Hill or Abingdon? We're on Baltimore Pike in Bel Air, a short drive from anywhere in Harford County.
How much do PDO threads cost at Beauty Spot?
Our pricing is competitive, and it depends on the areas and how many threads your face needs. Dr. Tessa gives you your exact price at your consultation, before anything is done. If time allows and you’d like to, treatment can often happen the same visit.
I came in for cheek or smile-line filler. Why threads instead?
Smile lines often deepen because the cheek has started to slip down. Instead of adding filler to the fold, Dr. Tessa lifts the cheek back toward its natural position with her signature Beauty Spot Cheek Pop. When the cheek lifts, the fold softens, without added volume.
What’s the difference between smooth and lifting threads?
Smooth threads support skin quality and collagen; they don’t lift. Lifting threads have tiny anchors that hold tissue in a lifted position. Many treatments use both.
Does it hurt?
The areas are numbed first. Most patients feel pressure and some mild discomfort rather than pain.
Is there downtime?
Minimal. Mild swelling, bruising or tightness can last one to two weeks. Many patients return to normal daily activities within a day or two. We recommend no threads in the two weeks before a special event.
Will I look fake or overdone?
No. Threads lift and support tissue that’s already there — they don’t add volume. The goal is a fresher, more lifted version of your own face.
When will I see results, and how long do they last?
Some lift is visible right away and continues to improve over the following weeks as collagen builds. Many patients enjoy results for around a year. Individual results vary.
Can threads be combined with Botox?
Yes. It’s how Dr. Tessa works. The Beauty Spot Lift is a double lift: Botox relaxes the muscles pulling the face down, then threads lift the skin over those relaxed muscles. Both can be done in one visit, or Botox first and threads about two weeks later.
Are PDO threads safe?
PDO is a dissolvable material that has been used in medical sutures for decades. As with any treatment, there are possible side effects. Dr. Tessa will go over them with you at your consultation.
Is it safe to get threads from a dentist?
Dentists train for years in the anatomy and surgery of the face. Dr. Tessa has surgical training in the face, more than 10 years placing PDO threads and more than 15 years in facial aesthetics, and every thread is placed by her personally.
